Simple Plan is a pop-punk band from Quebec, Canada
which was formed in 1999. The members are Pierre Bouvier, Jeff Stinco,
Sébastien Lefebvre, David Desrosiers and Chuck Comeau. Simple Plan has sold more than 7 millions of
discs of their first three albums.
In the beginning, some of the members formed a band
called Reset, they have almost no fame, although they tried to sing with other
bands to release it. As they saw no future, they separated. A few years later,
they were joined again but they made some changes with the members. In this way
Simple Plan formed.
Simple Plan debuted with the album ‘No Pads, No
Helmets... Just Balls’ in 2002 which they conquered half the world lists and
they won double platinum plaques. The music was aimed at young people and
teenagers. In less than a year, the band
visited five continents and they played in more than 300 shows. They also won a
gold plaque in Canada and Japan. A lot of fans started to follow the group, and
they could appear in a famous TV program.
In 2004, they released their second album called ‘Still
Not Getting Any...’ with their famous single ‘Welcome to my life’ known around
the world. The album won a platinum plaque. The reasons of the album’s name
were that they weren’t getting good reviews and they weren’t getting enough
respect. In this album, Simple Plan showed a dramatic style change. The style
was rather rock and not punk. In this year, they started a job to young people
and children who had problems with drugs, suicides, poverty...
Four years and a half later, in 2008, ‘Simple Plan’
their third album was released. The
single ‘When I’m gone’ got the 26 place in United Kingdom’s music list. They
made a world tour and they made a large amount of concerts and festivals. In
Quebec they made free concerts where millions of fans went. This album was in
the top 10 and top 5 in a half of the world.
Their last album is called ‘Get Your Heart On!’ it was
introduced in 2011. The band team up with different compositors. There are
different versions of the single ‘Jet Lag’: in French, Japanese and the English
original. That is the opposite of their
previous albums, it is an electrifying return to the vitality of their first
two albums. The band has made two big tours. A throughout this tour we could appreciate
the proximity of this band with the fans. Finally, they ended their tour in
Spain, offering two shows which were attended by more than 10 000 fans where
the song ‘Summer Paradise’ is the most famous.
